Dear Friends, By the end of the business day, tomorrow - Wednesday, July 21 - we may all be able to draw a collective sigh of relief, and feel some pride. The Rotem bill, which would have torn the Jewish people apart and legislated discrimination against non-orthodox Jews in Israel and the rest of the world, will not have been brought before the full Knesset for a first reading. At the end of the day tomorrow, Knesset will go into recess until October 11. Despite the fact that neither the battle, nor the war have been won, we have made ourselves heard and we have an opportunity to shape the future, as our concerns have registered in the highest offices of Israel and have aroused the interest and action of Jews in Israel and around the world. more...

Dear Friends, Now is the time to act – for your sake, for the sake of your children and grandchildren. In a place in which all Jews should find safe haven, Israel, our legitimate rights as modern Jews are being threatened by pending legislation in the Knesset. A small minority of ultra-orthodox Jews are threatening to delegitimize all forms on non-ultra orthodox practice by changing the laws of conversion. We need you to make your voice heard and tell Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he must act to prevent a potential rift between Israel and the Jews throughout the world. more...

The international Reform Jewish organization, World Union for Progressive Judaism, is hosting our biennial convention, Connections 2011 February 7-11, 2011. Delegates will come to San Francisco to pray, learn, and develop strategic plans for the future of their communities. K’lal Yisrael will be mostly represented, but because of the challenging economic situation, the World Union is not able to underwrite the travel expenses for many rabbinic & professional leaders from poorer nations …… so we need your help… more...
